While commending the Ephesian Church for their zeal for His work and hatred for sin, Jesus admonished them to reignite their initial love for Him. Service that is not rooted in, and backed up with, genuine and enduring love for the Master does not attract eternal reward. Today we want to discuss:
Red flags for a dwindling love relationship with Jesus
Consequences for having a dwindling love relationship with Jesus

RED FLAGS FOR A DWINDLING LOVE RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS
The following are some signs that may point to a dying love relationship with Jesus:
Lack of delight and pleasure for the Lord and His Word – Psalm 1:2, Psalm 37:4,Proverbs 1: 7, 22.
Lack of a desire to observe and obey the whole counsel of the Lord – John: 14:15-31.
Fainting in doing good to fellow believers and others around us – Galatians 6:9-10, 1 John 3:11-19, Hebrews 13:1-3.
Setting your affections on worldly pleasures – Colossians 3:1-2, 1John 2:15-17, James 4:4,
2 Timothy 3:1-5.
Doing what the Lord hates – Proverbs 6:12-19, Matthew 24:12, Revelation 3:15-16.
Lack of a wholehearted commitment to God – Colossians 3:23-24, mark 12:28-34.
Eagerness to forsake the assembly of brethren – Hebrews 10:24-25, Psalm 122:1.
CONSEQUENCES FOR HAVING A DWINDLING LOVE RELATIOSHIP WITH JESUS
Disconnection from Jesus – Colossians 3:3, Revelation 3:16, Revelation 2:5.
Service that may not be rewarded – 1 Corinthians 15:58, Hebrew 6:10, Matthew 7:21-23.
Becoming a vessel of dishonor – 2 Timothy 20-21, 1 Corinthians 9:27, Deuteronomy 28:47 -48.
Defeats and absence divine protection – James 4:7, Revelation 2:7.
RETURN TO YOUR FIRST LOVE
The intensity of your love for Jesus is determined by the depth of your personal relationship with Him and commitment to what He represents. God is jealous over you and would want nothing to hinder you from following Him wholeheartedly – Exodus 34:14, Deuteronomy 10:12, Ecclesiastes 12:13, Romans 8:35-39, Revelation 2:5.
To overcome opposition and defeat the evil, you must not allow your love for Jesus to grow cold. Be watchful and avoid all appearances of a waning relationship with the Master.
